A Brandon High School student was found dead in a lake over the weekend.

Brandon Police Chief Brandon French said the body was found in a private lake near Marquette Road on Sunday. The victim has since been identified as 17-year-old Noah Lambert.

French said his department was notified around 2:30 p.m. that the teen had jumped into the lake from an elevated height and could not be located by his friends. Authorities promptly responded to the scene and, with the help of a dive rescue team, were able to locate Lambert’s body and recover it.

The path leading up to the lake where the fatality occurred, according to French, is marked with “no trespassing” signs, though teenagers and young adults are known to frequent it.

As for the victim, Lambert is confirmed to have been a sophomore at Brandon High School. The school is currently offering counseling services to Lambert’s peers, along with teachers and administrators impacted by his death.
