Spring break travel numbers are expected to soar at the Jackson airport, according to airport officials who are preparing for an influx of passengers.
The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) announced that airlines at Jackson-Medgar Evers International Airport (JAN) are gearing up for peak spring break travel between March 7 and March 17. Per a press release, thousands are expected to take the airways to and from Jackson during that period.
Officials with JMAA encourage passengers to arrive at least two hours before their flight departure, ensuring ample time for parking, security procedures, and picking up a pre-flight bite to eat.
“As we prepare for this busy travel period, the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority team and our airport partners stand ready to provide an efficient and seamless travel experience,” JMAA CEO Rosa Beckett said. “We are very proud of our role as a vital transportation hub for Mississippi, connecting travelers to destinations on six continents with just one stop. At JAN, our dedication is to ensure every passenger’s safety, comfort, and satisfaction.”
Nationwide, the spring break travel period is projected to see a more than five-percent increase compared to ordinary travel periods.
