The skies above Natchez will once again come alive with color and excitement as the 40th annual Natchez Balloon Festival lifts off on Oct. 17-19 on the grounds of the historic Rosalie Mansion, overlooking the Mississippi River.
What began in 1986 as a local celebration has grown into one of state’s most anticipated fall events, bringing together hot air balloons, live music, local art, food, and family fun in a uniquely southern setting. Festival organizers call it “the best festival in Mississippi,” known for its charm, scenic views, and welcoming community atmosphere.
The weekend-long event will feature daytime balloon races and evening balloon glows, along with craft booths, rides, games, and food vendors offering regional favorites. Visitors can explore local artisans’ work, enjoy festival merchandise, and take in the sights of colorful ballons rising over the bluffs at sunrise and sunset.
Live music has long been a hallmark of the festival, and this year’s lineup will span a max of genres from country and blues to rock and folk, ensuring entertainment for all ages throughout the weekend.
The festival grounds at Rosalie Mansion provide a picture-perfect backdrop, combining historic architecture with sweeping riverfront views. Families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and settle in for a full day of activities and celebration.
Parking will be available downtown with both free and paid options, and shuttle services will help visitors easily access the venue.
Organizers say the event offers more than just a spectacle; it’s a celebration of community and creative spirit that defines Natchez.
“The festival captures what makes our city so special — its beauty, its culture, and its ability to bring people together,” one organizer said.
