Former Ole Miss left tackle Laremy Tunsil is now the highest-paid player at his position in the NFL after striking a historic deal.
The Washington Commanders signed Tunsil to a two-year, $60.2 million extension on Tuesday, with more than $52 million of the agreement being fully guaranteed. Tunsil is the first offensive lineman in NFL history to sign a contract entailing more than $30 million in annual earnings.
A former No. 13 selection in the first round of the NFL Draft, Tunsil is entering his 11th season in the league with stops in Miami (2016-18) and Houston (2019-24) before landing in Washington going into the 2025-26 season. This offseason, the Commanders’ front office made it a priority to keep him aboard to anchor a unit tasked with protecting star quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Tunsil is widely regarded as one of the top left tackles in the league, having been named to the Pro Bowl on five occasions. Before that, he was a two-time All-American and three-time All-SEC honoree with the Hugh Freeze-led Rebels.
