Looking for a Valentine’s event with a twist?

The Mississippi Museum of Natural Science is hosting an adults-only “Later Gator” event, allowing scorned lovers to get closure as they name a fish after their ex and throw it to alligators.

The event is set for Friday, Feb. 13, which ironically falls on Friday the 13th, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the museum in Jackson and is designed as a themed interactive night featuring animal encounters, refreshments, a photo booth, and hands-on activities.

Alongside the event’s signature activity —  naming a fish and feeding it to alligators —  Attendees can also take part in the event’s other activities, like Valentine-themed craft stations and access to the museum’s all-new “Giants of the Ice Age” exhibit.

The event is open to guests 18 and older. Tickets cost $25 and include event admission and naming rights to a fish. Officials say tickets must be purchased in advance, with sales closing on Feb. 11 at 5 p.m.

“We’re definitely all about having a little bit of revenge at this event. You are going to get to have some little closure as you name a fish after your ex, maybe something that didn’t go quite right, and then you get to give it to our gators,” Judith Page with the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science said.

The “Later Gator” event is one of the many events hosted by the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science. More information about “Later Gator” and other events can be found here.
