Daniel Stallworth is returning to his hometown of Moss Point for a free concert after his lengthy run on “American Idol” came to an end last week.
Stallworth, who made it to the show’s Top 7, announced on Facebook that he will take the stage for a “Hometown Celebration” concert on Tuesday. The show will be held at Jerry D. Alexander Stadium on the campus of Moss Point High School and will begin at 7 p.m.
Stallworth auditioned for “American Idol” in November, earning a golden ticket for his rendition of “Don’t Stop Believin’.” The soul singer then survived four rounds of elimination, crossing genres along the way, and advanced to the third-to-last episode of season 24, which aired live last Monday.
The 28-year-old, who graduated from both Moss Point High School and Alcorn State University, told SuperTalk Mississippi News that his home state gave him “100% since the beginning” of the show – one of the reasons he is returning for what he hopes will be the first of many Mississippi concerts.
“I’m definitely grateful for my state. I wouldn’t trade my state for the world. And I love everybody in my state,” Stallworth said.
Tuesday’s concert is open to the public. A clear bag policy will be in effect.
