Palmer Home for Children has been nationally recognized for its human services practices.

The Mississippi nonprofit announced Thursday that it achieved national accreditation through the Council on Accreditation. Officials said the accreditation followed an intensive 18-month process to demonstrate the implementation of best practice standards in the field of human services.

The accreditation process, per Palmer Home officials, involved a detailed review and analysis of administration, management, and service delivery functions against international standards of best practice. These standards aim to ensure that services are well-coordinated, culturally competent, evidence-based, outcomes-oriented, and provided by a skilled and supported workforce.

Achieving accreditation attests that Palmer Home effectively manages resources, exceeds best practice thresholds for services, and utilizes a framework for ongoing improvement.

“For me, this accomplishment is about much more than a designation. It reflects the heart, care, and commitment to excellence that our team brings to this work every day,” Palmer Home vice president of compliance Anna Brooke Warren said.

“At the center of everything we do are children and families who deserve to be supported, valued, and given every opportunity to thrive,” she said. “This recognition reflects our commitment to continually learn, grow, and strengthen the way we serve, so that we can provide the highest quality of care and help create brighter futures for the children entrusted to us.”

To achieve accreditation, Palmer Home first provided written evidence of compliance with the Council on Accreditation’s standards. Then, a group of specially trained peer reviewers visited the nonprofit to confirm implementation of these standards during a series of on-site interviews with board members, staff, and clients.
