Two people were killed and two others were injured in a shooting at a Christmas Eve gathering in Greenwood.
Officers with the Greenwood Police Department responded to a call regarding shots fired in the 300 block of East Market Street at approximately 8:18 p.m. Upon arrival, they found that “several people had been shot at a family gathering,” according to a press release from GPD.
Officials within the department noted that the two injured victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries. No identities have been released at this time.
The shooting was not officer-involved despite “rumors” suggesting otherwise, GPD added.
“There are rumors circulating that a police officer was involved in the shooting, but those rumors are false. No officers were involved in this isolated incident,” the release reads.
As of now, no arrests have been made. Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact GPD at (662) 455-3311.
