Leaders from energy, education, and workforce development industries will gather in Jackson in early 2026 to discuss Mississippi’s evolving power needs and explore strategies for preparing the next generation of skilled workers.

The Energy Workforce Education Summit, hosted by the Mississippi Public Service Commission, will highlight workforce development and collaboration. Dr. Courtney Taylor, the executive director at AccelerateMS, will lead the discussion on aligning education with industry needs, while Patrick Sullivan, the president at Mississippi Energy Institute, will head the talk on bridging skills gaps.

“The Energy Workforce & Education Summit reflects the Commission’s commitment to advancing workforce readiness, strengthening partnerships between education and industry, and ensuring Mississippi remains competitive in the rapidly changing energy landscape,” a joint statement from all three of Mississippi’s public service commissioners reads.

The summit is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 27, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at public service commission’s courtroom in the Woolfolk Building in Jackson. The summit will conclude with an exclusive breakout session where students will have the opportunity to engage directly with the commissioners.

“Mississippi’s energy future depends on a strong and adaptable workforce,” the commissioners further stated. “By fostering collaboration among educators, industry leaders, and policymakers, the Commission aims to ensure that Mississippi remains competitive and resilient in meeting future energy demands.”

The summit is free to attend, and registration can be completed here.
