The Mississippi State women’s soccer team will continue its historic run and vie for a national championship in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

Coming in as a No. 1 seed for the first time in program history, James Armstrong’s Bulldogs (17-2) will host Southern (9-9-2) on Saturday at the MSU Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. CT.

Mississippi State’s selection as a top seed comes after a dominant run, including a first-ever SEC regular season championship, an inaugural No. 1 ranking, and a 14-game winning streak. The Bulldogs carried their momentum into the conference tournament, ousting Tennessee 2-1 in double-overtime before falling to South Carolina 3-0 in the third round.

Now, Armstrong’s crew will have the chance to make waves in its pursuit of Mississippi State’s first national championship.

“We’re incredibly honored to receive the No. 1 seed,” Armstrong, now the winningest coach in program history, said. “This group has worked tirelessly to get here, and it’s such a special moment to know that we’ll be hosting in Starkville with our amazing fans behind us. We’re focused and ready to put all our energy into Saturday’s game.”

The Bulldogs’ opponent, Southern, will pose in challenge on the pitch. The Jaguars are on a four-game winning streak, including three victories in the SWAC Tournament.

Tickets for Saturday’s match are now on sale, with general admission seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children.

“Playing at home with our fans makes this moment even more special,” Armstrong said. “The energy in our stadium has been incredible all season. We’re hoping to keep that momentum going and are taking things one game at a time. We’re thrilled to start this journey at home and hope to keep it going for as long as we can.”
